Sam comes to this position after more than 32 years in the mental health field. He retired from his previous position as Chief of Mental Health Treatment Services at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens, NY.
Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is one of the largest providers of service in the NY State system. While he was there Sam innovated programs for treatment of aggression, self-injury, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse treatments, and treatment of chronic mental illness.
Sam started and developed the first Asian Treatment Service with a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services for monolingual Chinese and Korean speaking clients.
In addition, Sam has worked as a consultant in the field and has provided staff training and program development in such diverse areas as: Management and De-escalation of Mental Health Crisis Situations; Services for clients with Developmental Disabilities; and DBT services. He has also taught and lectured in Behavior Therapy.
Sam was born in Brooklyn, NY. He has an MA in Clinical Psychology. He has relocated to the region with his family and looks forward to using his experience to provide state of the art treatment to those in need.
Sam takes over the role of Executive Director after Janet Polley's retirement. Janet was with the agency for six years and spent the last two years as the Executive Director.
