CRISIS SERVICES
JMHS provides crisis services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Crisis Service access is through our trained Triage staff, who are Registered Counselors. They are trained to perform Triage duties, that is, to assess the level of need of the person requesting service, and, similar to 911 dispatch workers, to then connect the caller with an appropriate resource.
During Office Hours [8:00 am to 5:00 pm], Triage duties are performed by Triage staff at our home office.
After Office Hours [evenings, weekends and holidays], Triage duties are handled by the Crisis Line of the Peninsula, who provide crisis line response as well as dispatch to our local On-Call Mental Health Professional as appropriate.
Advanced Mental Health Professionals are available to handle acute needs, including evaluation for in-patient treatment. They are available on staff during office hours, and on-call after office hours.
Our Mental Health Professionals have dual roles: they are crisis interventionists, trained to directly assist individuals who are in mental/emotional crisis, and they are CDMHP's, who are the sole legal authority able to involuntarily detain an individual who is, per RCW 71.04, a danger to him/herself or others, or is gravely disabled due to a mental disorder.
